For those who found my blog due to googling for the odd ssh and kerberos errors, fear not, a solution has been found! As the problem was interesting, I got other people helping me and he found the actual error: Kerberos doesn’t like lines like “127.0.0.1 hostname.domain hostname localhost”, thus gets the wrong IP address from /etc/hosts when looking up hostname.domain IP address. Adding the real IP address together with hostname.domain and changing the above line to “127.0.0.1 localhost” makes things happy. Hurray!
